It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. Our Service has an authorized strength of 192 full and part-time members including 138 sworn Police Officers.
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was originally formed in 1871. It serves and protects a population of 80,054 over 238 square kilometres.
Along with its general patrol and investigative functions, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has an Emergency Services Unit, Canine Unit, Marine Unit, Motorcycle Patrol, Bicycle Patrol, Snowmachine Unit, and Forensic Identification Services. As well, our Police Service participates in many community-based policing initiatives including Crime Stoppers, R.I.D.E. Program, Neighbourhood Watch, Block Parents, and the Sault Squires Cadet Corps. Members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service maintain a strong presence in the Community by their involvement with local service clubs and social agencies.
